Europe Under Migratory Pressure

Europe—especially Greece—stands at the epicenter of an ongoing and explosive migration crisis. Thousands from Asia and Africa cross borders in search of better living conditions, often without meeting the legal criteria for entry. The paradox lies in the fact that while many flee autocratic regimes, persecution, or poverty, a significant number refuse to adopt the values of the societies that host them.

Instead of integrating into European life, they demand the preservation of their own cultural, social, and religious frameworks—fueling tension and conflict with native populations. This not only undermines social cohesion but also threatens the foundational principles of European states.

Greece on the Front Line

Greece has become the main gateway for irregular migration, with 90% of arrivals being illegal. The role of certain NGOs—often supported by opaque funding—in facilitating these entries worsens the issue. Turkey, meanwhile, exploits migration flows as a geopolitical weapon.

The inability to manage uncontrolled migration has led to rising crime, insecurity, and social destabilization. The unchecked presence of individuals with unknown backgrounds raises serious national security and public safety concerns.

Urgent Actions for Migration Control

To restore sovereignty over its borders and protect national cohesion, Greece must implement bold and effective policies. The key pillars are:

1. Border Shielding

  • Boost border control forces with modern surveillance tools, drones, thermal cameras.
  • Create an impenetrable defense system at land and sea borders.
  • Cooperate with the EU for joint protection of external borders, strengthen Frontex, and implement stricter screening protocols.

2. Legal Framework Reform

  • Revise the Citizenship Code: No automatic Greek citizenship—require years of legal residence, employment, and integration.
  • Severe penalties for traffickers and corrupt NGOs facilitating illegal migration.
  • Criminalize document destruction by migrants to ensure identity verification.

3. Registration and Return of Illegal Migrants

  • Mandatory identification and registration of all entrants.
  • Collaborate with origin countries for immediate returns of ineligible individuals.
  • Strengthen bilateral readmission agreements with third countries.

4. Control of Illegal Employment

  • Heavy fines on employers who hire undocumented migrants.
  • Job priority for Greeks and legal migrants in agriculture and industry.
  • Restrict remittance outflows by illegal migrants to ensure local economic contribution.

5. End Financial Incentives for Illegal Migrants

  • Eliminate benefits and privileges for illegal entrants.
  • Redirect welfare resources toward vulnerable Greek citizens.

6. Strengthen Social Cohesion & Public Security

  • Zero tolerance for crime: Tougher laws for migrant-related offenses.
  • Reassess integration policies: Those who reject Greek values cannot be granted equal rights.
  • Cultural compatibility is essential for national identity preservation.

The European Dimension

The migration crisis is not Greece’s burden alone—it is a pan-European emergency. The failed “open borders” policy has caused more problems than it solved.

Europe must:

  • Adopt a unified, strict migration policy with robust external border controls.
  • Reform the Dublin Regulation to equitably share migrant responsibility across member states.
  • Enhance cooperation with origin countries by investing in their economies to reduce push factors.

Conclusion: Existential Challenge, Not Just a Policy Issue

The migration crisis is not merely about humanitarian logistics—it’s about sovereignty, national security, and cultural survival. Uncontrolled, continuous inflows threaten the identity, cohesion, and future of both Greece and Europe.

Now is the time for decisive action, clear rules, modern strategies, and political resolve—to protect stability, sovereignty, and our core values.

Greece and Europe must act. Their survival depends on it.
